What is lamination of windows?
One of the most popular ways to diversify the design of metal-plastic windows is to change the color of the profile. Therefore, laminating is a great invention that transforms simple white metal-plastic windows into a true masterpiece of expensive wood.
The essence of laminating is to apply a special color film on a PVC profile window. This procedure is carried out in factory conditions on special equipment.
Extremely strong laminate film protects the window profile and significantly extends its lifetime by maintaining:
– temperature fluctuations;
– mechanical impact;
– direct sun rays, protecting the profile from overheating and, as a consequence, deformation.
It is important to know that such a film does not straighten out and does not require special care.
By laminating the window profile, there can be given any color on the RAL scale, whether it is calm green, saturated red or bold purple. In addition, the lamination can be matte or glossy, and also have a texture of metal, leather, “bark”, or wood. Such possibilities allow to make the window a full-fledged part of the most exquisite interior.
The most popular today is woodgrain lamination, thanks to which the windows perfectly fit into any interior decoration of the home, creating a cozy atmosphere. The woodgrain lamination is most in demand when decorating country wooden houses and cottages. After all, nothing so decorates a magnificent log house or alpine house, like stylish windows of mahogany, fir, oak, walnut, cherry.
The material of the film for lamination is multilayered and usually has an embossed surface. Thus, the metal-plastic window becomes both in appearance and even to the touch almost identical to the wooden one. In addition, on the laminated profile there are no visible spots, fingerprints and small scratches.
Depending on your preferences, goals and financial capabilities, the window can be patched on one or both sides, and also there can be used the so-called “in mass” profile.
For unilateral lamination, the film covers the required side of the profile – internal or external. Inner lamination allows to achieve a harmonious combination of all elements of the interior. The outer side of the window is usually laminated in private homes or cottages for the better appearance of the entire building.
For double-sided lamination, the film is applied to both the inner and outer sides of the window frame and the sash. While white
remains only in the area visible when the sash is opened.
A profile “in mass” is not white, but brown. Therefore, after lamination, white areas are absent even with an open sash.
It is important to understand: a galvanized metal-plastic window is much more practical than a wooden one. In addition, the lamination film will serve you no less than 20 years.
Pay attention! A standard metal-plastic window is usually made and installed within a few days. With laminating, the window production time increases by 10 days on average.
